For a start, hello. Welcome on my blog.
My name is Florin, I’m 26 years old and I am doing this sport called “weight lifting” for over 6 years now. Because I consider that I reached a medium-high physical transformation, and my knowledge in nutrition and training is solid, I decided to share everything I learned through years, with you.
The person that motivated me to do this was one of my clients (work related clients), friend, and a well-known sports nutritionist and fat loss chef from London. I’ll tell you more about him a bit lower through this page.
The main idea for this blog is to show you what works, what’s nonsense, lie, and the truth about the hidden realities of the fitness industry which constantly tries to sell you a MAGIC PILL of HOPE, and many times they succeed. I also want to offer you practical advice that will help you progress towards the body you want.
Let’s just think about it. If there was a MAGIC PILL that could help people stay in shape with visible abs year round, believe me, everybody would be FIT. I wouldn’t take it tough. I have a personal preference to make everything hard. I don’t know why but I like challenges. I’ll present you with a challenge down this page. Keep reading….
Let’s start with my 3 MAIN REALITY RULES when it comes to doing this sport:
- 90% of fat loss supplements don’t work – most of the time, what’s on the label is either nonsense or placebo (I’ll talk about this in a future article)
- Most advice/training programs/diets for fat loss, muscle gaining or you name it, don’t work (most of them are created by people using steroids or forbidden substances which help them reach their “magazine” body. With this in mind, most of what they do in gym and home doesn’t work for a regular guy like you and me – or girl if that’s the case)
- Any declaration that has to do with fat loss or muscle gaining has to be checked against existing scientific studies and practical application
Everything I teach here, will help you progress physically and mentally towards the body you want. Everything I recommend works fine for you. My first help for you will be on this page. Keep reading…
What’s My Story?
I made a short video clip, and I posted it on Youtube to motivate you. If I can do it, you can do it too. Not in 6 years but way less. I started from 2009 and continued to this very moment. It’s 2015 now. Let me tell you what happened through these 6 years:
My 6 Year Natural Transformation
How It Started
2009 – I was a skinny guy, sitting around 63 kg or 138 pounds. If I didn’t show you a picture from 2009, and you would be looking at me right now, you would have certainly said that I have “good genetics”.
Oh well, can you say it now?
I got good “genetics”?
I don’t think so.
I was mostly skin and bones. No muscle mass.
At that time, I lost a lot because I had a sedentary life. I was playing all day long on my computer. Trying all sorts of games. I was addicted and a nerd. I know it’s weird that I looked so skinny when I should have been fat. But it was that way because I was refusing to eat. I was concentrating on the games I was playing and food for me didn’t matter. It all started….
In the first months of 2009 (I don’t remember exactly which month), I had a visit from one of my cousin that was visiting us a lot at that time. I remember of that visit as it was yesterday. He had a bottle of CREATINE in his hands and I was looking at it with a weird face on. We didn’t had a supplement store at that time in our town (I was living in a small town).
I was very suspicious about that bottle full of “white” dust as I was thinking at that time.
After a short discussion with my cousin about that supplement and about his passion for lifting weights, he invited me to go to the gym with him. I was temporary motivated by the idea of changing the look of my body so I told him I’ll go.
The thing is… I didn’t kept my word. I let it be. I was too busy playing games and wasting time at home.
Until one day. A good friend of mine at that time, invited me to go with him and try lift some weights. So I did it. It was enough to get me obsessed with the idea of going to a gym. I was the most interesting world I discovered after the gamer world I was living until then.
The gym was at a house basement with rudimentary weights and equipment, all hand made. Here’s a picture with that room:
Take a look at it. There was nothing impressing at that gym. But it was equipped just enough to make me happy and keep me working out and do something with my body.
It got me from the very first day I entered it. I remember I stayed more than 3 hours at the first session. I was curious of each machine. What does this do? How do I work with it? How do I do it? How many sets, how many reps?
I soon became friends with most people that were frequenting that gym. I was asking for advice left and right from the so called “teachers” of those gyms.
The second day, I stayed 3 hours there.
The first months went like this. I was going to that gym daily. After the gym session, my mother was expecting me home with the meal ready (as always). She was supporting my passion and motivated me mentally to go ahead and do what I loved. There were also days in which she was filling the fridge in the morning, and by the time she was getting home from work, the fridge was empty.
I was reading articles, forums, books, every day. I had to learn. I had to know. I felt I could do it. I had a huge appetite for knowledge. And I was also applying what I was learning.
From reading easy and books on fundamentals of nutrition and training, I quickly jumped to scientific studies, advanced books on body structure, biochemistry, metabolism, etc. Now that I look back, I can’t believe how much I studied.
I remember a saying by John Maxwell, a well known writer and speaker in Leadership and Influence. He was saying something along these lines “It takes around 5 years to make an expert out of a normal person”.
Nothing is set in stone but those 5 years have long passed for me. I feel like I dominate this field. I don’t know if I reached the expert level yet but I am at a level at which I can easily say that I can help you lose fat, gain muscle, and become stronger, in the easiest way possible. All tested.
Getting back to my story, 2010-2012 were the years in which I learned and constantly applied everything.
I always smile when I remember that I was afraid of using creatine as a supplement because I thought it wasn’t “natural”, and that it was dangerous for my body. I was trying to eat 6-8 small meals through the day to “increase my metabolism” (a stupidity – I’ll talk about this in a future article). I was always trying all sorts of diets: low fat, low carb, paleo, vegan, protein diets, and I was always calculating my calories and stuff like that. Now that I think about it, it was a good experience. I learned a lot from that.
Some diets and training programs were simply destroying me mentally and physically. Others, were looking like I wasn’t doing anything. I tried everything.
What Were The Sources I Used For Diets And Training Programs?
Many times, I was trying to copy diets and training programs of the guys I was seeing in the magazines. You know, the ones that were looking amazing. I did that because I wanted to look like them. Little did I know at that time that those diets and training programs weren’t working for a normal guy like me.
I made this mistakes because they were not optimal for my body.
The recovery capacity of a normal body like mine or yours is way lower compared to a guy or girl that takes steroids. Not only that but the calorie partitioning, muscle gaining, force enhancement, hormone levels like testosterone, are way higher than yours or mine. What works for them, most of the time doesn’t work for us.
Even if my results were not incredible (now if I look back, I did a lot of mistakes that were holding me back but this is where I will help you – now I know what you don’t have to do in order to NOT waste time with useless diets and training programs).
Going back to my first 2-3 years of lifting weights, they were mostly a period of transition and discovery. I didn’t had incredible results but my progress was linear. Every year, I was keeping around 3-4 kg of muscle mass compared to the previous year.
Is that a lot? Is that little?
It all depends how it looks to you. Can you progress faster than that?
SURE! 100% Sure.
But could you do it with the level of knowledge and practical application I had at that time? No. It’s impossible. I was training in a suboptimal way. I was training too much. My diet was random and I wasn’t tracking anything.
I estimate that if it were for me to start from 0 right now, It would take me around 2-3 years to reach my current development. It’s difficult to do everything right these times. What I mean about that is simple: If you are not 100% dedicated to this sport, you can’t get it to a performance level. But the nice thing is that you don’t have to be rigid to look like me. Quite the contrary, you can do it with NO cardio, NO strict diets, less training, even eating and drinking in town.
To be honest with you, I like flexibility. I like having a body that’s pleasant to look at but I also want to be flexible.
I got to this development without cardio. I was going out in weekends, drinking alcohol and having a great time with my friends. I also ate fast food many times. Over and over again. I was training 2-3 times a week.
This is one of my philosophy:
Diet and training should be a piece of cake even if you want good results
They have to be easy to incorporate into your daily life. They don’t have to affect your personal life in a negative way. They have to offer you flexibility and liberty. They have to give you results.
I like what Einstein said: “Make everything as simple as possible but not simpler”:
In the summer of 2012, I reached a new form. I had a visible six pack, and an increased muscular development. I think we are looking at 8-10 kg of muscle mass that was added to my frame compared to 2009.
I reached that performance because from so many tries, I finally succeeded to discover the truth. I will talk about it here, on this blog. From 2012 to 2015, I progressed constantly. With visible results as you can see from that video clip on Youtube.
The diets I was trying were getting more flexible than ever until I reached a point in which I wasn’t even feeling like I was dieting. I knew what to eat and how to train to progress at a steady pace without even trying too hard.
I was perfecting my diets and training programs every year. Testing what works and what doesn’t work. Until I reached this moment in which my diet and training program is implemented into my life. It complements it.
I don’t do any mental effort to calculate my calories or stress over training programs. Everything goes by itself. It’s easy for me now, it will be easy for you soon.
I Like Big Weights
What Are My First Clients Saying
From 2012 when I released the first version of my book (It will be available in the upcoming month), I worked with many people. I lost their count. But I will always remember the first ones:
He got down from 17% to 9% bodyfat. But that’s not all. It’s a lot harder at 40 to get to a visible six pack compared to a younger person.
He got in that form by eating everything he wanted, even occasionally getting a bear with his friends. At that moment, he was going towards 7% bodyfat with my recommendations. You can find them in my book.
Also, the first woman I even trained, was a cousin of mine. I helped her to lose a staggering amount of weight in just 3 months:
You might think these transformations are amazing.
I can remember the moment I first started working with them. It seemed like a deja-vu. I was knowing they will reach that state if they listened to my advice. For me, it was easy to bring them to this form. All they had to do is follow the step by step advice I was giving.
Do you remember I told you I was going to talk about someone that motivated me to open my website, to help other people reach the body they desire?
That person is Gavin Allinson. Sports nutritionist and fat loss chef. I thank him for the support and motivation he gave me. Together with Matt Lovell (one of the biggest sports nutritionist in Great Britain, and which worked with most of the big rugby teams – currently training Man City and Spurs. They launched their own Sports Nutritionist Course named “Practical Sports Nutrition Course”.
You can get it from 595 to 395 pounds by contacting me.
That course takes anyone no matter their knowledge in nutrition and training, to an advanced level, giving you authority and knowledge to improve your body and also take clients.
P.S. Recently, a friend of mine asked me why am I writing about weight loss when I was already skinny when I first started. How could I possibly know about fat loss when I just gained muscle?
Maybe. The thing is, I wasn’t always skinny. I went through periods of being skinny and getting fat. Until I nailed it. My biggest weight was 97 Kg but I don’t have any pictures from that period. From 97 kg I lost weight until 76 kg two years ago.
I did something recently. It might look exaggerated from your point of view but I got fat.
I got fat on my own. I wanted to get fat so I can show you I can do it.
I started eating everything in sight. I wasn’t even caring about the fact that I was getting fat. I was eating pizza, shawarma, chocolate, cereals, high fat foods all day long. Every day for like 2 months until I got … FAT.
I took it as a child’s play. Something that I had to do if I wanted to prove myself. Let’s not even talk about Nutella Pancakes (I’ll write a recipe in the future)
